How are you other east coast kitties making out?  It's been blizzarding here for almost 20 hours.  There's about 2 feet of snow on the ground and I am not looking forward to work tonight.  I've been lucky so far this winter and have been off for the other snows, but my luck has run out.  My kids have been grumbling all day about trying to stay ahead of the snow so I can get out of the driveway.  Poti, can you even get out your front door?

Ugh, bumpy, Ohio was lucky enough to only catch the northern edge of this. None the less, my back and shoulders are absolutely killing me from moving a ton of snow off the driveway and street to dig out all of the cars. Its just too heavy to use a snow blower - not that we own one. This was the conversation my mother and I had yesterday morning while digging.

Me: How come your husband and son are still in bed and we're doing this? Is this what women's lib has come to?
[No Answer]
Me: And how come we don't own a snow blower like normal people?
Mom: Which of our neighbors own a snow blower?
Me: The guy up on the corner.
Mom: He weighs 300 pounds and has diabetes! I'd hate to think that was your idea of 'normal'.
Me: So you refuse to own a snow blower on the grounds of physical health?
Mom: No, I just don't like the noise that they make.

I was too out of breath to continue with this lovely banter. I admit that being too hot has its own disadvantages, but you never have to dig out humidity or worry about heat causing your car to slide into the curb.

No, Bumpy.  The only way out of the house was through the garage.  I took this picture of my pick-up when I woke up on Saturday morning - we still had about ten hours of steady snowfall to come.  Many people are still without power.  We had about a 30-second outage, just enough to reset all the electronic clocks.  I have some of my driveway that must be cleared but the plows won't be clearing my street until Tuesday at the earliest.  Word is that we can expect more snow by mid-week.  "I can't wait!" he replied precipitously.

Great, they'll be clearing your street just in time for the next storm.  I hear it's gonna be another coastal storm with plowable snow.  Yeah, I love winter....not.  And our official total for this one was 28 inches.

It's been snowing like hell here pretty much all winter. I haven't seen snow like this in well over ten years. Even as I type this, it's snowing, and kind of doing this freezing drizzle thing. Damn Phil for seeing his shadow!

wow .. we escaped this one.

One snowstorm we had - our neighbors showed us that a leaf blower can also be used as a snow blower in the south .. it was a riot!

OK, another 18 to 24 inches on wednesday.  I'm done with this.

We've been promised another 8-10 inches today for our zip code although one meteorologist forecasts anywhere from 10 to 20 inches.  On top of the 30 inches we now have on the ground, this amounts to a fairly sizable total.  Stay warm.
